The next chapter of the war is coming.
I’m excited to announce that Armor, Book 2: Sicily is now available for pre-order on Amazon Kindle and Paperback.
This novel continues the story of Staff Sergeant Ricci and his Sherman tank crew after the brutal North African campaign. Tunisia is behind them, but the war is far from over.
In June 1943, the crew is abruptly transferred from the battered ranks of the U.S. 1st Armored Division to the 751st Tank Battalion, a unit preparing for something bigger. What starts as a quiet reassignment quickly turns into preparation for one of the most dangerous operations of the war: the invasion of Sicily.
The battalion is green. The command structure is strained. The enemy is waiting.
And Ricci’s crew is expected to hold the whole thing together.
What to Expect
This book focuses on the armored crews who landed behind the infantry during Operation Husky, the Allied invasion of Sicily. Tanks were expected to fight immediately after landing, often under air attack, artillery fire, and chaotic beachhead conditions.
Inside the story you’ll find:
- Sherman tank crews learning to survive together
- Friction between experienced veterans and green replacements
- Leadership under pressure
- The uncertainty before an amphibious invasion
- Combat decisions where mistakes cost lives
The novel stays grounded in the daily realities of armored warfare: maintenance problems, crew tension, command politics, and the constant pressure of preparing for battle.
A Glimpse from the Opening
Early in the book, Ricci and his crew receive the orders that will change everything:
“You and your crew are being reassigned.”
The words hit harder than I expected. Even when you see something coming, part of you hopes it’ll miss.
“To where?” I asked.
“Seven hundred fifty-first Tank Battalion,” the captain said. “Temporary duty assignment as cadre.”
I stared at the folder.
Our names were all there in a neat typed line.
Moose. Lucky. Benji.
No one had asked if we wanted to go.
No one ever did.
From that moment forward, the crew is pulled into a battalion racing to prepare for the invasion of Sicily, and the brutal fighting that will follow.
Why Sicily Matters
Operation Husky (July 1943) was the Allies’ first step into Axis-controlled Europe. It involved over 160,000 Allied troops landing in a single operation, supported by naval and airborne forces.
For tank crews, the landing meant fighting almost immediately after hitting shore, often with incomplete intelligence, unfamiliar terrain, and enemy counterattacks already forming inland.
That’s the world this book explores.
